Designer: Willar Mateo 's Salad Day
There is a big pool of young designers striving to make a name each school year. But Willar Mateo belongs in a different spectrum I think. He honed his talent during his early days in I Love You Store at Cubao X and now under Gian Romano's guidance .
I was lucky to have an opportunity to meet up with Willar a day after the lookbook shoot for his debut collection. Random Candies is the name of his collection. Appropriate enough since Willar is a living proof that one must not take things so seriously. His penchant for the hurly burly colors and patterns altogether create a creative chaos in a very sweet and young context. I should've met Willar when I was younger! But I can say that there are pieces in his collection that caught my interest.

I admire Willar's persona style. It's really an extension of his personality. The point where his character is seen before the labels of his clothes.
